50% Urea-aqueous

50% UREA-AQUEOUS SOLUTION

For NOx scrubber purposes, Azure DEF offers a 50% aqueous solution of urea. By choosing a higher concentration of urea, the aqueous solution will take up less volume, which means smaller storage vessels can be used. The 50% aqueous solution is also ideal diesel boilers, where non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) can be achieved simply by injecting the aqueous solution into the boiler, at which point it becomes a vapor. Many boiler operators choose urea over ammonia since ammonia at all dilution levels will flash evaporate when it is exposed to gases from the flue. Using a 50% aqueous solution of urea does not require high-energy lance injection systems or additional technologies to accommodate the solution. In colder climates, this 50% aqueous solution will need to be kept above 64°F (18°C) and regularly circulated due to the solution’s relatively low freeze point.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for Maritime Applications

Currently, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is the only NOx reduction process approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). By using this NOx scrubber technology, nearly all nitrous oxide emissions can be eliminated — up to 99%. Plus, the addition of SCR technologies will not require the burning of additional fuel or increase your carbon dioxide emissions in any way. The high-purity 50% aqueous solution of urea sold by Azure DEF is used as a reagent (mixture) that is injected into the exhausted gas, where it then undergoes a conversion into ammonia. This is then transformed into nitrogen and water as the ammonia mixture passes through the exhaust gas.
